Each leaf is carefully handpicked and stone-ground to create a vibrant, emerald-green powder, delivering a matchless tea experience. Grown in shaded environments, the leaves develop a deep, rich flavour profile that sets our Matcha apart from all others.

This traditional method of cultivation and processing invites you into the world of Japanese tea culture, where Matcha is revered for both its flavour and ceremonial significance. When prepared, the powder transforms into a vivid green liquid, capturing the essence of nature with every sip. The flavour is fresh and grassy, with a subtle sweetness and earthy undertones, while the aroma evokes the calming scent of the forest floor.

Our Matcha is not just a tea but a mindful practice. It is rich in antioxidants, known for its restorative properties, offering a moment of tranquillity and vitality in each cup. The high levels of chlorophyll, the vibrant green pigment in Matcha, help cleanse and detoxify the body, while its natural caffeine provides a smooth, sustained energy boost without the crash commonly found with coffee. The smooth texture and rich flavour profile provide an experience that calms the mind and awakens the senses.

About Matcha Taishan

Matcha is a type of powdered green tea that is traditionally used in Japanese tea ceremonies. It is made from shade-grown tea leaves, a process that enhances the flavour and texture of the leaves. The leaves are ground into a fine powder, which is then whisked into hot water, creating a frothy and flavourful beverage.

Matcha is made from tea leaves that are grown under shade for about 20-30 days before harvest. This process increases chlorophyll levels, giving Matcha its vibrant green colour, and promotes the production of amino acids, contributing to its unique flavour profile.

Matcha is available in different grades. Ceremonial grade is the highest quality and is often used in traditional Japanese tea ceremonies. Culinary grade is used in cooking and baking, providing a more affordable option with a slightly stronger flavour.

It has a rich, complex flavour with a balance of sweetness, umami, and a slight bitterness. The shade-growing process contributes to the development of amino acids, particularly L-theanine, which gives Matcha its characteristic umami taste.

To prepare matcha, the powder is whisked into hot water using a bamboo whisk (chasen). The resulting beverage is smooth, frothy, and provides a concentrated burst of tea flavor.

While Matcha is traditionally consumed as a tea, it has gained popularity in various culinary applications. It can be used in lattes, smoothies, desserts, and even savoury dishes, adding a unique green tea flavour.

Matcha is rich in antioxidants, including catechins and polyphenols, which are believed to have various health benefits. It also contains caffeine, providing a gentle energy boost without the jitters associated with some coffee beverages.

Matcha holds cultural significance in Japan and is often associated with traditional tea ceremonies. The preparation and consumption of Matcha are considered a meditative and mindful practice
