About Decaf Assam

Decaf Assam refers to Assam tea that has undergone a decaffeination process to reduce its caffeine content. Assam tea originates from the Assam region in Northeast India, and it is known for its bold, malty flavour and robust character. The decaffeination process is applied to the tea leaves to make it suitable for individuals who prefer to limit their caffeine intake.

The tea base is Assam tea, which is made from the Camellia sinensis plant. Assam teas are typically grown at lower elevations, contributing to their bold and brisk characteristics.

There are various methods for decaffeinating tea, but one common method involves using solvents or carbon dioxide to extract the caffeine from the tea leaves. This process aims to retain the flavour compounds that contribute to the unique taste of Assam tea while removing most of the caffeine.

Our Decaf Assam retains the malty and robust flavour profile associated with traditional Assam tea. The boldness and full-bodied nature of Assam tea is still be present, offering a rich and satisfying cup without the stimulant effects of caffeine.

The brewed liquor of Decaf Assam typically has a deep, reddish-brown colour, similar to regular Assam tea.

Decaf Assam can be enjoyed on its own or with the addition of milk and sweeteners, depending on personal preferences. The decaffeinated nature of the tea makes it suitable for consumption in the evening or for individuals who are sensitive to caffeine.
