Our Japanese Sencha Fukuyu is not just any green tea; it's a representation of centuries-old tradition and meticulous craftsmanship. Nestled in the coastal region of Honshu, Japan, the Fujiyama mountain slopes provide the ideal environment for cultivating this exquisite tea. Here, amidst the misty peaks and fertile soils, the tea plants thrive, soaking up the essence of the land and the pure mountain air.

Harvested with precision and care, the tea leaves undergo a journey of transformation, from verdant fields to delicate infusion. Mechanically gathered yet meticulously sorted by hand, only the finest leaves are selected for processing. Once plucked, they undergo a gentle steaming process, preserving their vibrant green hue and locking in their natural antioxidants.

The artistry of Sencha Fukuyu lies in its nuanced flavour profile. With each sip, you'll experience a symphony of sensations: the brisk, refreshing notes dance on your palate, followed by a subtle astringency that awakens the senses. Yet beneath its crisp exterior lies a depth of flavour that speaks of the land from which it springs - a hint of umami, a touch of sweetness, and a lingering finish that leaves you craving another sip.

But Sencha Fukuyu is more than just a beverage; it's a reflection of Japanese culture and tradition. From the careful cultivation of the tea plants to the meticulous crafting of each leaf, every step in its production embodies the spirit of craftsmanship and reverence for nature.

So, as you steep your cup of Sencha Fukuyu and savour its delicate aroma and vibrant flavour, take a moment to appreciate the journey that brought it to your lips. In each sip, you'll find a taste of Japan's rich heritage and a reminder of the beauty that lies within a simple cup of tea.

About Japanese Fukuyu

Sencha is a type of Japanese green tea that is widely popular both in Japan and internationally. It is made from the leaves of the Camellia sinensis plant and is known for its vibrant green colour, grassy flavour, and refreshing qualities.

Sencha is usually grown in full sunlight, distinguishing it from shaded teas like Gyokuro. The leaves are harvested in the early to late spring, providing a fresher and more delicate flavour compared to later harvests.

The leaves undergo a steaming process immediately after harvesting. This step helps to prevent oxidation and preserve the tea's green colour and flavour. The steaming duration can vary, affecting the tea's final taste.

After steaming, the leaves are rolled to shape them and then dried. This process contributes to the characteristic needle-like appearance of Sencha leaves.

Our Sencha Fukuyu is sourced from Shizuoka on the Fujiyama Mountains. Shizuoka is one of Japan's prominent tea-producing regions, known for its diverse tea offerings. The region's climate, soil, and altitude can influence the flavour profile of teas grown there.

Sencha is known for its vibrant green infusion and a well-balanced flavour profile. It typically exhibits a combination of sweetness, umami, and a slight astringency. The taste may vary based on factors such as the specific cultivar, region of cultivation, and processing methods.

The Fujiyama Mountains (Mount Fuji) is an iconic region in Japan and across the world. The altitude and natural surroundings can contribute to the unique characteristics of the tea.

Teas grown at higher elevations, such as those on mountains, experience different growing conditions that influence the tea's development. Cooler temperatures and varying sunlight exposure contribute to nuanced flavorus.
